The flight to LA was beautiful. We flew over what I'm pretty sure was Loveland...or maybe it was Arapahoe Basin... Anyhow, the clouds were huge and happy like big cotton candies from the fair, and the sky was the bluest, and there were rainbows. I'm pretty sure I saw sprites riding flying unicorns around. They were dining on sunshine and pooping out glitter.
Iowa and Nebraska, however, were kind of a buzz-kill. Monsanto's expansive corn and soybean patchwork, as aesthetically pleasing though it may be from the air, really serves to underline the enormity of U.S. corporate agrinomics. It was as if, from all the way up in the sky, I could see new kid-fatties and diabetics sprouting from the same fields as the corn.

I am now safely in L.A., living high on the hog in Quantas's Admirals Club. Between the venti black coffee and the nerves of sneaking in I am visibly shaking. Up here there are cushy chairs, mini sandwiches, and other assorted goodies. **grin**
